Gov. Baker responds to vacated air quality permits

During Governor Baker’s daily briefing today, a reporter asked him about the recent vacated air quality permit for the compressor station, and how his administration plans to respond. Gov. Baker completely dismissed the issue and referred to us as the “locals”, while stating that we “didn’t want a substation” (the first circuit made their decision to vacate the permit because Enbridge neglected to do an analysis for the use of an electric motor vs. a gas turbine for the compressor). A new audit from by by State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump shows that MassDEP has not been releasing reports REQUIRED by the Clean Water Act for the last five years? Doesn't that coincide with the election of Gov. Baker? How ironic. Wonder if they have failed to do any required reporting on Clean Air?

We say it again and again....a fish rots from the head down.

Sierra Club and FRRACS send 2,000+ signatures to Gov. Baker

Last week, over 2,000 signatures were collected from across the state requesting Governor Baker to shut down construction at the Weymouth Compressor station during the Pandemic. In an effort led by Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station and the Sierra Club, the comments detailed the environmental injustice that will bring more particulate and toxic pollution into a community already overburdened by toxic waste contamination.

Congressman Kennedy III urges Baker to shut down construction

Many thanks to Congressman Joe Kennedy III for writing to Governor Baker and encouraging him to suspend construction of the Weymouth compressor station during the ongoing pandemic.

Enbridge is constructing a non-essential compressor station during a public health crisis. They are actively putting workers and the community at risk. Construction needs to be shut down for the sake of public health.
