There is a history of accidents at Compressor Stations across the country. A similar incident would be devastating in N. Weymouth, with the bridge and communities in such close proximity
The infamous fracked gas leaks in Porter Ranch, California. The explosion of a natural gas pipeline running underneath Interstate 77. Deepwater Horizon.
It's simply too late once these accidents happen. We can't allow for any risky compressor station to continue operating in this sensitive location.
In the past, other opposition groups to Spectra (now Enbridge) maintained a list of safety violations. You can read them here: Spectra Safety Violations.
“Regulating stations can have buildings installed around the stations which can then provide acoustic noise reduction. However, these buildings present a safety risk as, when there are gas leaks, the gas can collect in the building and create hazards of either asphyxiation or explosion.”
