Action Alert: Commenting to FERC
/The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is reviewing the certification process of fracked gas facilities and is seeking input from the public during this review. This is a revisiting of a process that was done in 2018. They have a long list of questions — available here — and are asking that responses be submitted as an “Efiling” on their website.
How can you take action? Write a comment in response to any of the questions that FERC has listed in the Notice of Inquiry (NOI) and submit it as an eFiling (not as a regular comment) -- more details below. There are different categories of questions: Determination of Need, Eminent Domain and Landowner Interests, Environmental Impacts, Efficiency of Review, and Environmental Justice. You may respond to questions in any of the categories. We have also provided some sample responses; feel free to use them as a guide to submit a filing to FERC. We do suggest personalizing them a little so that FERC doesn't disregard form responses.
How do you submit your filing? You may have submitted comments to FERC before for some of our other action items, but eFiling is a little bit different. Our good friend Cathy Kristofferson has provided us with this detailed how-to eFile with FERC. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email us: nocompressor@gmail.com
This is a really important public comment period, and we want to flood FERC with filings! Comments are due May 26 (the NOI says April 26 but it has since been extended).
Thank you for taking part in this important action!
