Action Item: Contact Representatives to Put Pressure on FERC
/Action Item: Contact Senators Markey & Warren and Representative Lynch to Put Pressure on FERC
Thanks to so many of you, FERC has received nearly 200 comments asking them to approve our request for a rehearing on their approval of Enbridge’s in-service certificate. If you haven’t had a chance to submit a comment, you can do so here until Feb. 18.
Let’s keep the pressure on! As a follow-up to our FERC comment action item, we are asking folks to contact Senator Markey, Senator Warren, and Representative Lynch, asking them to make the same request of FERC: approve FRRACS’s request for a rehearing.
We have provided sample email and phone talking points below, as well contact information. Thank you, as always, friends! Your support means so much.

Dear NAME,
My name is _____ and I live in _____. I am writing to express my concern about the Weymouth compressor station and the hazards it continues to pose. In September 2020, FRRACS (Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station) submitted a request for rehearing to FERC after the agency approved Enbridge’s in-service certificate. In November, FERC denied FRRACS’ request but later rejected their denial at a commissioners meeting in January of this year. Though this was good news, it leaves the community without a path to move forward. Nearly 200 comments have been submitted to FERC since that meeting, urging them to approve FRRACS’ request for a rehearing. I am writing to ask that you contact FERC and urge them to approve FRRACS’ rehearing request. Thank you for your continued support in this fight and for your vocal opposition to this project.
Sincerely,
NAME

Hello, my name is _____ and I live in ____. I am calling to express my concerns about the Weymouth compressor station. I know that Sen. Markey/Sen. Warren/Rep. Lynch has been a vocal opponent to this project and understands the many risks that it poses. At a recent FERC meeting, the commissioners denied their initial rejection of the community’s request for a rehearing, which they submitted when FERC approved Enbridge’s in-service certificate. Though this was good news, it leaves the community in limbo. I would like to ask that Sen. Markey/Sen. Warren/Rep. Lynch contact FERC and urge them to approve FRRACS’ request for a rehearing. Thank you.
