Air quality results left out of HIA

An exclusive report from Desmog found that MassDEP submitted air samples to a lab in RI but did not include the results in the HIA, despite data showing the presence of several VOCs.

1,3 butadiene (a carcinogen) and acrolein (a toxic pollutant) were both found at levels above state guidelines.

We find this information very concerning and demand to know why this information was not included. The DEP approved Enbridge’s air quality permit despite having this data. The air quality needs to be revoked, and an independent analysis of air quality in the Basin needs to be put in place.
