Gas explosion in NC takes one life and injuries others

Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased. This is happening more and more as construction crews are hitting gas pipelines that are not on dig safe maps. Why? Because the gas companies kept lousy records.

Weymouth had two evacuations within the past 3 weeks due to construction crews hitting gas pipes. It is not the fault of the crews. It is the fault of an industry and utilities that take no responsibility for safety.

Excerpt: “At least one person died and 25 people were injured, including nine firefighters, after a gas explosion shook downtown Durham and destroyed buildings on Wednesday.

Durham police on Wednesday night identified the person killed as Kong Lee, 61, who owned the Kaffeinate coffee shop. The shop was located inside the building that was destroyed by the blast.

During a news conference Thursday morning, authorities said the list of those who were hurt during the massive blast had risen to 25, with nine of those being firefighters.” (WRAL.com)
