Nov. 1 Sunrise to Sunset Standout
/What a beautiful (and windy) day it was. A few months ago, we discovered a single line in a 1,000+ page document that stated Enbridge was planning to start construction on November 1. Although we were ready to fight, as we always have been, it was difficult to see that date in writing. November 1 became a somber day until we decided to mark it as a day to celebrate our community and all that we have to fight for. Enbridge may have money and lobbyists, but we have people power, and we made that abundantly clear today.
We gathered at the proposed compressor station site as the sun was rising, with over 50 of our friends and supporters. We opened the day with a brief centering on Samhain and All Saints Day, which are both celebrated on November 1. We took a moment to remember the spirits that we carry with us in this fight, and the younger people in our lives who will be the ones to experience the most serious impacts of climate change.
Friends filtered in and out throughout the day to hold continuous space at the proposed site until sunset. We want to thank everyone who came from near and far to be with us today, including State Senator John Keenan. It was a really beautiful and powerful day. We couldn’t sustain this fight without all of you. <3

Thank you to our friends at e-Awakening for coming to our standout and for documenting this fight.
In this video, Alice explains why the compressor station proposal is such a bad idea.
"Between the off-gassing of the systems, between the damage that is being done in Pennsylvania, the damage that is done all the way up the pipeline, and the fact that this site is contaminated...it's an environmental disaster."
