FRRACS Presents Air Quality Results at Braintree Town Council Meeting

On Tuesday night, FRRACS spoke in front of the Braintree Town Council to present data on air quality and our concerns regarding current levels of pollution. Dr. Nordgaard discussed the results and Mike Lang and Alice Arena spoke in more detail about our efforts to stop the compressor station. We are grateful the Council took the time to listen to our concerns and we are hopeful that the dialogue will continue.

"At-large Councilor Shannon Hume called the air-test results “very alarming” and thanked the group for bringing the matter to the council’s attention.

“There’s not another citizens group that’s given so much time on such a technical issue,” she said." - Patriot Ledger

"Out of six samples across Braintree, Quincy and Weymouth, levels of the carcinogenic chemical benzyne were found to be at their highest levels in East Braintree, according to data revealed to the town council by the Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station (FRRACS).

The air quality tests done in April by Braintree based GeoLabs and Phoenix Environmental Laboratories of Connecticut found levels of benzene, methylene chloride, 1.2 dichloropropane, 2-hexaanone, alkanes, hexane, acetone and ethanol that exceeded DEP standards, according to Dr. Curtis L. Nordgaard, a Newton pediatrician." - Braintree Wicked Local
