Town's Update on the Compressor Station

The Town provided an update regarding the legal battles surrounding the compressor station. You can watch the video update here.

It has been through the actions of FRRACS, Dr. Curt Nordgaard, the North Weymouth Civic Association, the East Braintree Civic Association, Occupy Hingham, Families Against Enbridge (Andrea Honore and the One Woman Sit-in), Hingham Residents Against the Compressor Station, SCNU, CARCS, No Sharon Gas Pipeline (the grassroots), East Weymouth Congregational Church, Pilgrim Congregational Church, Old Ship UU (the faith community), the Island Foundation, NEGREF (the grant organizations), Toxics Action Center, 350MA, Mothers Out Front, The Sierra Club, Mass Power Forward, Mass Nurses Association, Food & Water Watch (the BIG environmental organizations), Weymouth-Mayors Hedlund and Kay, Quincy-Mayor Koch, and Braintree-Mayor Sullivan, all of the Town Councils and City Councils including Hingham--but in particular Councilor Becky Haugh, Councilor Brad Croal, and Councilor Margaret Laforest (the towns), the State Legislative body--every Senator and Representative from Quincy to Duxbury (the State government), Sens. Warren and Markey and Congressman Lynch (the Federal Government), Solicitor Callanan, Miyares and Harrington, Carolyn Elefant, Michael and Lori Hayden (the lawyers) that the successes we have seen have been accomplished. We owe a debt of gratitude to all involved that the pressure was brought to bear on the powers that be--whether that was FERC, the Federal Delegation, or Gov. Baker and his administrative agencies. Do you all remember that FRRACS always told you that no compressor station had ever been defeated? Solicitor Callanan gives you the new odds on this.

Remember, Fore River Campers, Spectra told Mayor Kay and Councilor Haugh that they only wanted to put up a "little garage." If the grassroots (that's ALL of you!) had not risen to the occasion, Enbridge would be shipping that fracked gas now. Give yourselves a hug!

For FRRACS, FAE, Occupy Hingham, NWCA, EBCA and HRACS this has never been a NIMBY issue. It is about the health, safety, environment, and economic stability of all--including the planet.

Note: If you need any information about the PIP process, please send us an email at nocompressor@gmail.com. This is ongoing and comments are due by January 5, 2018. FRRACS has established a 16 member PIP intervenor group. We have information for all who would like to comment to TRC--the Licensed Site Professional.

As always, THANK YOU for all that you do! Onward, in solidarity!
