Educators Against the Compressor

  • 50 Bridge Street Weymouth, MA, 02191 United States (map)

Join members of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and FRRACS in standing out against the construction of a dangerous natural gas compressor station that would further pollute the air in North Weymouth, Quincy & Braintree while furthering the climate crisis.

- 5 elementary schools are less than a mile away from this site and they already suffer from high levels of pollution.

- Natural Gas Compressor Stations release 10 cancer-causing chemicals but we simply don't know how much will be released into our communities.

- Compressors carry the risk of unintentional releases or accidents, the impacts of which are not considered by current regulations.

- Natural gas is acquired by fracking, which poisons ground water. It releases methane during extraction and transmission, making it a heavy contributor to the climate crisis. We need to secure our children’s future!

We will meet in Kings Cove Park on the east side of the Parcel for a short stand out with some speakers, including local politicians. We will then march up to the bridge with signs (both FRRACS and MTA) to show our support for the people in the Fore River Basin.
