We will be on the proposed site early on November 1, the purported construction start date of the compressor station. Whether or not they actually start construction on Nov. 1, we want to have a strong presence at the proposed site starting at sunrise on November 1 until sunset. This will be a family-friendly event in the spirit of Samhain, the ancient Irish holiday from which Halloween comes. It is also All Saints Day/Day of the Dead, when we take courage and inspiration from those who have gone before us on the path of peace rooted in justice.
We will gather starting at 7 AM and will continue to stand out at the site throughout the day. We will close the day at sunset, around 5:30 PM. We hope to have the largest crowd in the morning, so please come at that time if you can. Mother Nature will be bringing us rain on Friday, so please dress accordingly and don't feel you have to stay too long -- we don't want anyone getting sick! If you can make it, please RSVP here.
We'll have coffee and snacks in the morning to keep everyone warm and energized. In addition to food, there will be fun activities, like face painting and pumpkin decorating. Feel free to bring signs, banners, and your Halloween costume, if you want!
In the afternoon, many folks will be heading to the State House for an action with GBPSR (Greater Boston Physicians for Social Responsibility) to call on Gov. Baker to stop the compressor. You can find more info about their action here. If you can make it to the State House in the afternoon, we encourage you to attend. Some folks may choose to stay back at the site to keep an eye on things. Please know that if you do go to the site in the afternoon, there may be fewer people than in the morning, but that your presence will be much appreciated.
RSVP below to let us know you can join us. We will gather early in the morning but you can join at whatever time works for you. The address is 55 Bridge Street, Weymouth.
