Springing Toward a Cleaner Future: Celebrating the New Air Quality Monitor

Springing Toward a Cleaner Future

Saturday, March 20, at 10 AM (note the new time!) | Lovell’s Grove, 1 Bridge St., Weymouth | Rain Date: March 27

At long last, the Fore River Basin is now home to a new air quality monitor. It took a lot of organizing to make this happen, but we're so happy to finally see it in place.

Though this step doesn't mark the end of our fight, it does mark a step forward in holding polluters accountable for the toxins they emit into our communities, and a step toward eventually shutting down polluters like Enbridge.

So, to mark the occasion, FRRACS invites you to join us on Saturday, March 20 -- the First Day of Spring -- for a special community celebration. We'll meet at 10am at Lovell's Grove (maps below) and will march to the site of the new air quality monitor. In the case of rain, we will gather on Saturday, March 27 at 110am instead.

Face coverings are required and we kindly ask that you maintain a physical distance from those not in your pod for the entirety of the event. Thank you for helping to keep each other safe!

Bring your signs and join us as we spring toward a cleaner future!

Thank you to all of you who spread the word, met with legislators, and commented on the DEP docket to pressure the agency to put Weymouth in the regional air testing plan for 2020. And a very, very special thanks to Speaker Ron Mariano, Sen. Pat O'Connor, and Rep. Jamie Murphy for their tireless efforts on our behalf to work with the Governor and DEP to make this happen.

Parking Map:

We will be meeting at Lovell’s Grove in North Weymouth. Lovell’s Grove is located on the access road that goes under the Fore River Bridge (on the opposite side of the compressor station). If you are new to the area, you can type “1 Bridge Street, North Weymouth” into your GPS, and it should bring you to the access road. There is a parking lot, as indicated in the map below. If parking runs out, you can park at the small lot across from the compressor station (see map below).

March Route:

We will be marching from Lovell’s Grove, along the Calpine side of the access road that goes under the bridge. We’ll then walk on Bridge Street briefly before turning onto Monatiquot Street. We’ll walk to the end of Monatiquot, close to where the new air quality monitor is set up. Please keep in mind that this is a residential street, so we ask that you respect noise levels and be mindful of cars.
