Public Safety Meeting with PHMSA
Monday, June 17 | 6-9 PM | Abigail Adams Middle School, Weymouth (89 Middle Street)
Help us pack the room for a meeting with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to discuss safety issues relating to the compressor station proposal.
The proposed Weymouth compressor station poses many risks. We know that pipelines and compressor stations leak and explode. It’s not a matter of if, but when.
For the past four years, we have been making the effort to voice our concerns with the Department of Transportation, PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) and Local Emergency Planning Boards. Aside from one meeting with our local emergency board last fall, we haven’t had much luck getting these agencies to pay attention. Luckily, we have many allies on our side who have echoed our calls, including Congressman Stephen Lynch. Congressman Lynch has made consistent efforts to get public safety officials to take a serious look at the compressor station proposal, and the impact it would have on the community. So, we’re happy to announce that a public meeting with PHMSA has been set! Many thanks to Congressman Lynch and our local elected officials for making this happen.
PHMSA will be holding a public listening session to examine the serious public safety issues relating to the construction and operation of the proposed Weymouth compressor station.
We need you to spread the word and pack the room. Come with your comments and concerns.
